In 1898, an enterprising young sailor, E. Le Roy and his good friend, Thomas Pearson began manufacturing waterproof long oilskin coats in Manly, Sydney, Australia. The initial long coats were made by recycling torn canvas sails and were designed for sailors plying the trade routes of the rugged roaring 40’s.

News of the coat’s reliable performance and durability spread quickly and demand grew for land based applications of the product. Driza-Bone has continually developed a large array of outerwear the most famous product is the legendary Riding Coat.
